“Charge- Being Different” is a piece depicting a young girl hanging surrounded by a uniform crowd. This is to represent how by just being different a person can be ridiculed or socially “Killed”. The girl herself is shown with the colour leaving her body and close to show her losing that individuality, become the same gray as everyone body else. The crowd does not cry, they only watch. This is meant to show the lack of care for people in general. The outfit of the hanged girl is plain, to show she has nothing left that separates her or has meaning to her, she is just another face in a crowd. Her eyes are sad but her mouth is smiling. This is meant to show the feeling of being forced to appear happy and of having emotions ignored or ridiculed. The rope being used to hang her is made up of insults, words like “weird” “strange” “odd”, depicting the words that were the final attack against the girl's individuality. The background is colourful to show all that she used to be and what is behind her that she has been forced to leave in the past. The ground around her feet is black, this was because of the future that she has after she eventually falls from the noose, black is the absence of colour which in the piece is to represent that lack of anything to separate her as her own person.
